"Free Killy" Turns on Trainer
"Some mornings they just wake up not as willing to do the show as others," said Ken Balcomb, director of the Center for Whale Research in Friday Harbor, Wash. "If the trainer doesn't recognize it's not a good day, this will happen."You might not be so agreeable yourself if you spent 30 years in captivity and were forced four times a day to star in a corny show attended by some species of squealing apes. If they made her jump through hoops and allowed people to dive from her nose, why didn't they just go all the way and put her in a ringlet wig and a tutu?

There's always some justice when captive animals quit playing along...
