"My Comrade" Party

Literate drag queen Linda Simpson finally got around to publishing a new issue of My Comrade, her labor of love and laughter, after more than a year since the last. And before that, it had been 10 years! So I guess there's really no reason to rush down to the newsstands to get it--except that it's so funny. And I bet she sells more issues than ever this time, because she's widened the focus beyond the East Village and snagged an interview with foppish Project Runway non-winner Austin Scarlett, who does not pull his punches while diss-cussing his fellow contestants. There's also scenester interviews, a slang primer, and even a somewhat nude centerfold of Tommy Hottpants.

Even though the party was on Easter, actual blow jobs were being doled out in some sort of camping-themed room in the back (the kind of camping with a tent, not a wig). Nobody disobeyed the "No Smoking" signs, though.

Everyone was "in the house," and everyone performed--even Barbara Patterson Lloyd, who confessed she's no whiz in the kitchen. "Not only does my husband give his dinner to the dog, the dog gives it to the cat!" Nobody booed! Hot new breakouts: tranny electro track-act Da Lypstics (performing their "hit," "Fashion Ho") and Dynasty Handbag, who has this scary-funny Tourette's approach to "performing" and stars in a ridiculous My Comrade photo comic by Ande Whyland.

Maybe Dynasty wore this costume to make sure everyone realized she's no drag queen:
